ABOUT ERICA EMONI
ARTIST. CREATIVE. HOUSTON GIRL.
I’m Erica Emoni, a self-taught artist based in Houston, TX. My work is a reflection of the culture, people, and moments that shaped me - a visual diary of where I come from, what I love and how I see the world.
THE JOURNEY
From Expression to Purpose
My love for art began during the pandemic as a way to express myself through the silence and uncertainty of that time. What started as a personal outlet quickly grew into something much deeper—a passion, a purpose, and a platform.
Through each painting, I explore themes of Black identity, music, nostalgia, culture, and the everyday moments that make up our lives. My work celebrates the beauty, strength, and complexity of Black people while also serving as a reminder to look within and embrace your own power.
For me, creating is therapeutic. I’m drawn to the references, memories, and moments that make me feel something, and I reinterpret them through my own lens. Each piece becomes part memory, part expression, and part celebration—a reflection of what moves me and the culture that shaped me.
